Watch the referee's body orientation and positioning from the cross through to the shot. As Kashiwa advanced on the left, the referee turned towards the area where the cross was likely to arrive, while staying clear of the players' path. Once the ball reached the middle, the referee took small steps to keep a view of the attacker and opponent as their positions changed. At the shot, the referee stopped to watch from a stable position. The referee also appeared to have the likely path of the shot in view before it was taken. That position allowed the referee to follow the ball and observe whether a defending player on its path committed a handball offence or whether a player was in an offside position. The sequence of anticipation, small adjustments and a clear view of the shot is an excellent example of positioning for match officials.
