What to look at in this scene is the direction the referee's body faces as the cross is delivered. I referee myself, and it is all too easy to turn your body and your eyes towards the side the ball is on, in this case the left. When a cross is delivered, the next challenge will be in front of goal. The referee in this scene turns their body towards the goalmouth as the cross is delivered, so that they are able to watch the next challenge. It is a small detail, but I consider it a very important one. Where the cross is delivered from matters too, of course. There may be a handball offence, or a sliding challenge or something similar may produce a foul. What is more likely to affect the match, though, is what happens in front of goal, and so the referee deliberately turns their body that way and watches from there. When anticipation is discussed, running is what usually gets attention, and Judge DB deals with running often as well; but the direction the body faces is also something that comes from anticipation and from the referee's experience and reading of the game. Referees are human too, and they can end up watching the ball. In this scene, however, the referee anticipated that the next challenge would be in front of goal and that something was likely to happen there, made a judgement and turned their body accordingly. It is a scene that leaves you feeling that it is those who care about small movements like this who go on to become top referees.
